I love it when I see and taste new Kit Kat flavors from my domestic and international travels. It's always exciting to see what it's going to taste like and if I would love it or hate it. So far, I haven't met a Kit Kit that I thought was truly gross and I hope this will never be the case even when I encounter the interesting Japanese flavors like wasabi, cantaloupe, sake and many other interesting flavors. I know at some point I will encounter them and I will be very excited, but this time wasn't the case.
Some of these flavors I remember getting from our Beijing and Benelux trip last year and the others, I can't recall, but I wouldn't be surprised if you can purchase them here in the states. The flavors are white chocolate, cookie dough, Halloween and almond.
White: the white chocolate flavor is mild, yet chalky. Not that I eat chalk a lot, but it has a sweet lingering after taste that makes you want to drink something right after eating it. I thought it would taste similar to vanilla bean, but it doesn't. It definitely has its own flavor.
Cookie dough: I picked this up from our trip to Benelux last year. It really does taste like cookie dough. I can see myself breaking pieces of this and putting it in vanilla ice cream and I think it would taste pretty damn good.
Halloween: this annual limited edition comes out for Halloween only. It's dressed up in orange inside and out, tastes very sweet and probably good to eat once a year in October. Even though the color is orange, it doesn't taste very orangey to me. I'm not sure what the flavor is? Maybe candy corn?
Almond: I bought this in Beijing at a Walmart. It was neat to see what Walmart is like in China. I feel like they went with a bitter dark chocolate with almond flavor. It's not what I expected, but I guess if I thought about it, dark chocolate covered almonds are a big thing.
A friend recently emailed me an article about Kit Kat premiering limited edition sushi flavors at its new store opening in Ginza, Japan this month. I wish I could be there to try it!
